Passion for textiles

20200621%20-%20kopie_edited.jpg

Art and beauty play an essential role in my life -I cannot live without them. My many years of museum experience nurtured my own creativity. Through my studies in art history and anthropology and my global travel, I came into contact with other people and their cultures and art.

I am fascinated by the beauty of fabrics, including textile samples and scraps. Their textures, colors, and decorations delight me. They carry history and stories. These inspire me to create new shapes and objects, including abstract compositions, wall hangings, textiles for the home, and wearable textiles such as scarves and jewelry. I invite you to take a look!

I initially created Memory Textiles to grieve the loss of loved ones in my immediate family. I find that a favorite item of clothing of a deceased person embodies the memory, but I give it a second life. It becomes an object of comfort and love, a piece to cherish.

It pleases me when my head and hands work together, when I create with feeling. This is my focus today and what I always strive to do for others. After all, I thrive when I make time for people, their stories, and their well-being. I am enthusiastic and enjoy what I do.
